Position: Process Engineer

·Identifying alternative product design/development to support competitive tendering for new automotive tooling and equipment.

·Identify known technologies and push new processes for best in class manufacturing practices.
·Contribute to the develop and continually improve of process specifications and statement of work documentation
·Development & Optimisation of headliner processes through VB, HTFB builds. Manage suppliers for complex high value tooling
·Set up new jobs and process parameters and ensure that these are monitored and controlled in day to day production
·Develop PFMEA’s and control plans as part of a team
·Generate standard operation instructions for process and tool changes
·Manage tool maintenance requirements and ensure standards are kept
·Support plant with successfully ‘handover’ process, tooling and support, with training, both TT and PP build to achieve AAR & PSW.
·Utilise validation & acceptance documentation.
·Support existing plant programs, process problem solving, troubleshooting and optimisation
·Supporting dimensional team with improving dimensional issues by means of DFM trials.
·Support tooling RFQ with relevant inputs relating to clamp force, hot runner drops, material selection, hot runner technologies, feasibility, cycle time.
·Support/ Lead established and new processes with a data driven approach
·Identify and manage risk/feasibility/root causes & recommendations.
·Travel within UK & Europe to support supplier tool trials for UK based projects.
Experience & Qualifications
·Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant role within a 1st tier automotive supplier, preferably within a just in time environment
·Demonstrate experience and appreciation of interior trim manufacturing, in particular headliners and door casings
·Appreciation of various cover stock materials used for interior trim
·Appreciation of robots, automation & End of Arm Tooling
·Lean (appreciation, not necessarily a practitioner)
·A clear approach to understanding practical problems.
·Develop moulding strategies
·Experienced in understanding & analysing CAE
·Ability to understand & review 2D & 3D tool designs, identify issues & provide resolutions to issues
·Experience with interior plastics trim.
·Excellent communication skills
·Knowledge & understanding of press forming, lamination and edge wrapping technologies
·Experience with dealing with various size IMM’s from 50t>3000t
