Job Title: Technical Team Leader

The Role:
• To provide supervision to production teams in delivering on-time output against targets and production schedules.
• To supervise the production of battery packs whilst adhering to established Hazardous voltage safe working practices.
• Help to develop world-class levels of performance and customer satisfaction through use of company tools and techniques and by effective team working and continuous improvement.
• To co-ordinate activities to deliver product right first time, fully compliant with all specifications to the highest quality standards (zero PPM) using the most efficient processes.
• Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers.
• Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and fostering a culture of working safely and right first time.

Key Responsibilities (split by key area):
• Health & Safety
-Ensure the highest possible levels of Health and Safety and Housekeeping are upheld in line with legislative, quality and good working practices
-Fully trained to Senior Authorised person level
-Fostering a safety critical and right first-time approach to Health and Safety culture
-Fostering a right first-time approach to Quality
-Ensure that all records are completed appropriately in line with Senior Authorised Person
-Ensuring compliance of PPE at all times
-Maintain visible lead for adherence to procedures and instructions
-Responsible for accident, hazards, near misses reporting and assisting in investigation and for seeking proactive solutions to issues and reductions in incident levels to minimise / eliminate the risk of potential further incidents occurring
-Ensuring full adherence to 5S at all times
-Support Safety initiatives and lead the team in achieving/exceeding Health and Safety targets
-Ensure completion of regular risk assessments are carried out and archived correctly

• Quality
-Responsible for ensuring and maintaining Quality standards within the Production area
-Ensure all staff comply with the Company Quality Policies and Procedures
-Identify Quality issues as they arise and ensure escalation procedure of quality concerns is followed and action is taken as appropriate to ensure containment and resolution is achieved
-Respond to Customer issues and support full detailed investigation
-Using computerised systems to maintain build data integrity

• Cost
-Understand Business KPI’s and communicate these on a regular basis to Production teams in such a manner to ensure compliance and conformance
-Control and manage time and attendance including sickness / absence using established Company Procedures

• Delivery
-Manage, motivate and lead production team and resources in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements whilst achieving quality and safety standards
-Ensure that production teams follow defined manufacturing procedures including all SOPs
-To ensure production plan is achieved in line with customer and budgetary needs
-Employ lean manufacturing techniques to achieve productivity and efficiency targets
-Work closely with all functions to ensure delivery or targeted KPI’s
-Provide expertise to the team
-Ensure successful launch of new programs by actively participating in trials.
-Providing feedback to share ideas and improve operations by supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results in line with health and quality standards.

• People Development
-Responsible for training the team
-Responsible for daily management to support the team to achieve operational success
-Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure completion in line with all standards of delivery
-Deliver communication briefings ensuring awareness of Company and local issues
-Responsible for return to work interviews, training and development plans, Company Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures with support from Human Resources and Management
-To actively see and improve your own knowledge, skills and experience to increase your contribution to the Production Team and Company success
-Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them

Key characteristics of the role:
• Conscientious, enthusiastic, results orientated, self-motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Good planning and organisational skills - in order to support delivery of the project the Team Leader will have to take direct ownership of key project aspects
• Team work - ability to work in/lead a team will be essential. Size of team dictates that individual will have to support all areas of the project

• Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Electric Engineering

Knowledge & Skills:
• Proven leadership skills in a demanding Production/Manufacturing environment (high volume) or be able to show extensive experience in a low volume manufacturing environment that is transferable
• At least three years Team Leader experience in a similar production/manufacturing environment or be able to show extensive experience in an environment that is transferable
• Experience of working in a hazardous voltage working environment
• Proven experience of creating and fostering a right first-time approach to Health and Safety and Quality
• Knowledge in some technical areas of the project scope, or having demonstrated ability to achieve a high level of proficiency in a short period of time
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Proven ability to motivate in a team oriented, collaborative environment
• Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
• Proven planning and organisational skills
• A creative, logical approach for generating new ideas and solutions
• Strong PC skills, including MS Project
• Desire to improve & learn new skills in order to be promotable
• Proven track record of self-development
• Full UK driving licence
• Excellent knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies ideally within an electrical manufacturing sector

Interpersonal Skills:
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment, providing input and feedback in a helpful manner
• Desire and drive to be promoted
