Job Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer

The Role:
• The successful engineer will be responsible for supporting the introduction and development of the new battery project process, equipment and facility.
• The successful engineer will play a key role in the Battery Team Project.

Key Responsibilities:
• Working with our partners to develop and design a lean and quality process
• Develop and implement process concepts throughout the project, ultimately delivering effective standard operating procedures (SOP’s), including the use of video technology
• Responsible for build process from the DFMEA, PFMEA and Control plan
• Design processes that measure and have process capability from the beginning
• Establish process cycle time estimates & understand effects on capacity of new equipment
• Develop layout concepts reflecting lean thinking & lessons learnt
• Support final engineering implementation ensuring that all key Man Eng. deliverables are achieved (cycle time, OEE, safety approval, etc)
• Ensure Production sign-off new equipment / modifications against target deliverables
• Support equipment specification and selection
• Generate solutions for design in manufacturing reviews
• Attend trials at a number of premises where necessary
• Develop knowledge of HV/Battery assembly process
• Build into the process/layout the manufacturing basics tools that support the effective running of the cell and are also auditable by our customers (e.g. through their MSA audits)
• Incorporate the principles and tools of the company Way
• Develop digital thinking and Industry 4.0 into the manufacturing process

Key characteristics of the role:
• Conscientious, enthusiastic, results orientated, self-motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Good planning and organisational skills - in order to support delivery of the project the engineer will have to take direct ownership of key project aspects.
• Team work - ability to work in/lead a team will be essential. Size of team dictates that individual will have to support all areas of the project

Experience/Qualifications Required:
• Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred or equivalent Level 3 qualification
• Experience of using Auto CAD, CATIA V5 a benefit
• Experience and understanding of BOM structures
• Excellent grasp of process design principles and demonstrable application of the full standardised work package
• An understanding of Lean Manufacturing
• Prior experience of delivering change into a production environment
• Familiarity with equipment standards (Mech & Elec).
• Proven experience of working as part of a team, preferably within a matrix or project team structure
• Previous experience in defining standard automated equipment
• Working in a right first-time culture for HSE and Quality

Knowledge & Skills Required:
• Independently can determine approach to assigned tasks
• Knowledge in some technical areas of the project scope, or having demonstrated ability to achieve a high level of proficiency in a short period of time
• An excellent understanding of engineering and design principles
• Ability to plan and organise through several project stages
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to read & understand engineering drawings
• A creative, logical approach for generating new ideas and solutions
• Strong PC skills, including MS Project
• Desire to improve & learn new skills in order to be promotable
• Proven track record of self-development
• Good organisational skills (working with a project management system) Flexible approach to work required due to size of team
• Ability to be promoted with development

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment, providing input and feedback in a helpful manner
• Desire and drive to be promoted
